"And I said to the one who stood at the gate of the year, 'Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.' And he replied, 'Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than the known way.'" (Minnie Haskins)

Traffic

I expected having to deal with traffic when living in the city, but never thought about living near a sports stadium nor did I think about the implications of traffic that would cause... like creating a major back up at my exit on the interstate. It happens all the time during baseball season. Go Braves!

Have you ever...?

Have you ever...? Think that's a fun question. First a story and then my 'have you ever' question.

A long time ago the city gave us the old debtors' prison to turn into transitional living apartments. A couple of years ago this guy moved into GlenCastle. I'll call him JP. JP was a tall imposing looking guy covered with tattoos. A starving artists. One of those artists who is bipolar and sometimes thinks folks are after him, etc. Well, apparently he got a little thing for me and even asked me out. He was a sweet quiet man, but he wasn't a believer and definitely had some issues. He's in jail for some theft issue that he says he didn't do. We really do think he just got connected with the wrong guys who did something and he got thrown in with them. But here's the kicker... the police just showed up. They want to see his old apartment, so they can do one of those black light tests for blood. Apparently he admitted to owning a blanket in which the body of a decapitated woman was found. We are unclear as to whether or not he admitted to the murder or not.

So... now one my "have you ever" questions is... "Have you ever been asked out by a man who later decapitated a woman?"

my world is so different...

Sitting in my neighborhood coffee shop working just so that I can meet new folks and be here to talk with those I have known a long time. Pouring outside. One of the neighborhood druggies - and I think homeless guys - is sitting in there to stay dry and warm. He's been talking my ear off a mile a minute. He wanted to know if I thought I'd ever find that special person to have children with some day. He keeps forgetting why he started saying something and even was saying that he finds all these cuts but doesn't know how he got them... I want to tell him that maybe it is the drugs. He says he started college. Also says he spent time in prison... and drew some in solitary confinement. He's 39. His mom lives in the senior center in High Points.
